Description

Gas swivel chair has an exclusive base, that has been developed to match the frame design. The comfort of the Gas swivel chair is fundamental with extraordinary lumbar support.

The swivel Gas chair comes in two base configurations:
– Task armchair with castors & adjustable height. A perfect chair to work both at the office or at home.
– The visitor or conference chair. Fixed height on a five star base with glides and auto-return function. Perfect as dining or occasional chair.

Gas is an elegant chair collection and what makes it unique is its fluid aluminium frame. The curves of the backrest and the inclination of the seat hug the body, giving extraordinary comfort.

Gas swivel chairs always come with armrests. Finish of the frame for swivel chairs: shiny chrome, or powder coated in black or white.

The Designer - Jesus Gasca

Jesús Gasca is the founder and principal designer of STUA, a contemporary furniture company based in the resort town of San Sebastían, Spain. STUA prides itself on producing a limited range of furniture, with each piece exquisitely executed out of the finest materials.The style of the work can be characterised as Scandinavian with a Mediterranean touch. The company’s mission is “to improve the habitat in which we live, by refining our designs, and using recyclable components and environmentally friendly manufacturing processes.” Contemporary pieces of high technology and simple shapes. Always thinking about the function objects have to have, but with shapes that are new and as close to the user as possible.
STUA which Gasca founded in the early ’80s, has allowed him to develop his own work as a furniture designer. Trained as an engineer, Gasca specialises in technically complex design with attention to detail. Gasca’s recent designs include the Onda stool, Globus Chair, Sapporo Shelving System, Gas Chair and the Deneb Collection.

He has also collaborated with Josep Mora to create the classic Egoa chair that won the Innovate Design Melbourne prize in 1988. Gasca has received the most importat design awards for the Gas chair.

The STUA company has been awarded the National Design Award. The most important recognition to a design company in Spain.

Design

There are four types of Gas chair:
- the four-legged sidechair.
- the four-legged armchair.
- the star-based, self-return
chair.
- the star-based swivel
chair on castors.
All Gas chairs are for indoor use.
Stacking

The fixed chairs are always stackable. On the floor:
- Polypropylene: 8 units
- Upholstered: 5 units
The fixed upholstered chairs have additional piece underneath the seat to avoid damage when stacking.
Feet

The fixed chairs are provided with two kinds of glides:
- plastic for carpet or rugs
- felt for delicate wood floors
The colour of the feet match the colour of the frame.
Self Return

The self-return chair always incorporates arms and is of a fixed height.
The stem has a self-return system, which returns the chair to its original position.
This is ideal for keeping the room tidy.
Task Chair

The task swivel chair is equipped with castors and the height is adjustable.
The castors (Ø65 mm) are made of soft rubber to avoid damage to the floor and they incorporate a brake to prevent accidents when sitting down.
The mobility of the chair makes it ideal for work.

Gas by Stua - Comfortable, Practical, Beautiful

SURFACES: Jesus Gasca investigated looking for the most comfortable surface design that would hold human body. So the seat and back are curved in three dimensional surfaces that have just one purpose: the comfort of the seating person.
ALUMINIUM: all the chair frame is made of injected aluminum. Light and recyclable.
SHAPES: the shapes of the aluminium frame are mate to avoid any welding.
SEAT & BACK: the seat and back can be of polypropylene or fabric.
MESH BACK: the back has the option of being made in mesh, which allows lightness and it is a “breathing” material.
SLIM BASE: the design of the base has been made to be as light as possible, to match the frame design.
