Description

Egoa is a moving chair created by Josep Mora. There are two main chair options: Egoa moving armchair and Egoa task chair.

It is essential to sit in the Egoa chair to experience how wonderfully comfortable it is. The seat and the backrest are ingeniously hinged, inviting users to adopt a dynamic sitting posture, thus allowing a free range of movement. Egoa chair adapts to most body weights and sizes, offering an exceptional comfort.

This design has been in production for more than 20 years now, and leads to become a design classic.

The Designer - Josep Mora

Barcelona, 1951-2020. Josep Mora engineer has been teacher in the prestigious design school of Elisava in Barcelona.

His design is always linked to very technical and clever solutions related to movement. Maybe this is the reason why he has designed a number of bicycles. The latest of them is a wooden version produced for the Camper shoe company.

He designed both versions of the Egoa chair for STUA, the fixed frame model and the version on castors. Both chairs embody a deceptively simple but intelligent and sophisticated mechanism.

Josep was the type of human that would move to Rwanda to help the disabled children from war. He would use any chair he could find on the street to create unique wheelchairs, and that would change the life of those kids. He even created a handbook so that local people could continue his work.

Seat

The front part of the seat is curved downwards for comfort and good circulation.
The seat and the backrest are made of plywood.
The Egoa chair can be finished in natural wood, lacquered wood or upholstered.
Frame & Stacking

The chair frame is made of 14 mm solid steel rod, specially treated for permanent flexibility.
The design of the Egoa chair allows for up to 6 units to be stacked on the floor, and 10 on a trolley.
Hinging & Feet

The seat and the backrest are connected to the frame by two aluminium parts. This allows the chair to move.
The Egoa chairs are equipped with four glides, which can be removed for use on a carpeted floor.
Task Chair

The Egoa swivel chair is equipped with castors and the height is adjustable.
The castors (Ø65 mm) are made of soft rubber to avoid damaging the floor and they incorporate a brake to prevent accidents when sitting down.
This chair is ideal for work.
